Korea's winter festivals

Welcome to exciting four-season Korea!!

It's only early December, start of winter, but, there was already heavy snow in Korea.

For you who want to enjoy this freezing and snowing season,
Pencil recommends interesting festivals in Korea local.



Christmas in Busan 

(12.01.2012 ~ 01.06.2013, Gwangbokro-Street, Busan)














Gigantic Christmas trees and illuminations will light the streets of downtown Busan at night for about 40 days. About 90 trees have been installed along a 1.16-km section from the entrance of Gwangbokro to Chamseon Samgeori. The facades of large buildings are also decorated with Christmas trees. Various performances including music, play, dance and magic shows will be held during the festival period.

Pyeongchang Trout Festval 

(12.22.2012 ~ 02.03.2013, Odaecheon-Stream, Pyeongchang, Gangwon-Do)

Visitors to the festival can enjoy a variety of programs including ice and lure fishing for trout, snow programs, ice programs, folk programs, and more. There will also be traditional folk games including sledding and top spinning, and visitors can try out sports such as riding 4-wheel ATVs, snow rafting, sleigh trains. Any trout caught from ice fishing and lure fishing can be prepared right away at a nearby restaurant.

Boseong Green Tea Plantation Light Festival 

(12.14.2012 ~ 01.27.2013, Boseong, Jeollanam-Do)

















Boseong Green Tea Plantation Light Festival will take place in the green tea fields of Boseong, one of Korea’s most well-known tourist destinations. A large tree will be set up and various other places will be decorated with lights in the Hoecheon-myeon, Yeongcheon-ri regions. The festival will send a message of hope for the New Year to tourists and residents who visit Boseong during the winter period.

Every winter Mt. Taebaek turns silvery under a blanket of snow. The snow-covered landscape surrounding the summit and Baekdudaegan boast their grandiose, unparalleled beauty. This festival includes a variety of events, attracting countless tourists who come to enjoy the romance of winter.
